The Great Jobs Opportunity

Building out wind, solar, conservation and more is one of the greatest job opportunities in history. To create political pressure to make it happen while also healing our political divides, let's start a campaign of passing resolutions on the local and state levels, just like the Nuclear Freeze campaign did. Our resolutions demand manufacturing jobs for the build out.

Let's stop missing out on great job opportunities. Every day that our country isn't working full tilt to install wind, solar, conservation & other innovations is a day we are missing out on millions of well-paid manufacturing jobs.

Let's stop burning money. Because wind, solar, and conservation are cheaper than the fossil fuels we burn today, every day these energy systems aren't fully installed throughout the land is a day that we are missing out on savings. Your money, your kids' money, our money.

Let's put money in your pocket. Let's do what Alaska's Republicans did. Republican Governor Jay Hammond made sure every Alaskan of any age can get a check every year for their share of the state's energy wealth. Every day we haven't fully deployed wind, solar and energy innovations is a day that delays putting annual checks in each resident's hands as payment for the wind and solar we collectively own.

Let's save people and businesses money ASAP—unless they opt out. Only a government-coordinated and financed program can hire an army of installers to go house to house, business to business, parking lot to parking lot to install solar, heat pumps and more. Left to the market, the transition is too slow, prolonging the affordability crisis.

What are we waiting for? Every day we don't have a massive government-coordinated and financed program to maximize the speed of our infrastructure upgrade is a day that delays the well-paid jobs that hard-working people want—for ourselves, our families, our community, for our country. And with every delay, we fall farther behind other countries that are leaping ahead by transforming their infrastructure.

How we get there. To generate the political pressure required to ramp up millions of manufacturing jobs in wind, solar, conservation, upgrading the grid, etc., let's use the successful strategy from the Nuclear Freeze campaign of the 1980s. We aim to pass thousands of resolutions on the local and state levels demanding politicians create jobs building out our energy potential as fast as possible. (This process, even if done at breakneck speed, will employ millions of people for decades and longer.)
